Greenville, SC – March 5, 2009 – Automation Engineering continues its long-standing of public service to the community through education outreach events with area schools. Originally part of a smaller plan to teach about high-skilled manufacturing careers available to students through small facility tours and educating the educators programs, AEC has now undertaken a much larger initiative focused on in classroom instruction on the options and benefits of a manufacturing career, such as engineering.
Through the program students can meet current employees of the manufacturing community, discuss possible areas of expertise and levels of pay. Many classes have followed with a job-shadowing event at the Automation Engineering facility as well.
“The hope of the program,” says Karl Brauner, Business Manager of Automation Engineering, “is to build an awareness and interest in careers that many people have forgotten about over the last several years. Manufacturing has been described as non-existent by the media, but it continues to be the primary employer and primary contributor to the economy of South Carolina. There are many fantastic, interesting and high-paying positions in manufacturing that we allow the students to explore. Even a little interest and knowledge can go a very long way with the creativity of a young student.”
The program will be continuing on an as-requested basis for area schools. The program will temporarily shut down for the summer and come back on-line in August.
