AUTOMATION ENGINEERING RECEIVES THE ASSOCIATION FOR MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE’S 2009 SOUTHEASTERN REGIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) recently announced Automation Engineering as the 2009 recipient of its Manufacturing Excellence Award for the Southeastern Region. The Greenville, S.C.-based manufacturer of custom equipment and factory automation solutions is one of eight to receive the award that signifies high levels of excellence have been achieved and sustained during the past year.

In today’s volatile economy, it is necessary for companies to stay competitive in the global marketplace, as well as maintain profitability and stable customers. All award recipients recognized by AME are not only surviving, but are thriving despite the current economic conditions.

“Automation Engineering has a long history of high performance levels and ensuring customer satisfaction,” said Ralph Keller, AME president. “Their continual use of Lean tools and strategies has led to productivity, quality and safety gains, and a reduced employee turnover rate.”

Automation Engineering’s Greenville plant manufactures equipment for numerous industries, including healthcare, packaging, energy, tube & pipe and metals. On the Lean journey since 2002, the company was especially recognized for overall excellence in sales and customer commitment, as well as developing an extensive internal leadership training program. Automation Engineering employs 60 people and has provided its products in nine countries. In 2008, Automation Engineering posted revenues of approximately $12 million.

AME’s Manufacturing Excellence Awards honor companies that demonstrate significant progress in their journeys toward enterprise excellence through continuous improvement over a three-year period.
